Why do you think Safari would eventually have the same problems as  
Opera ? They use two completely different rendering engines.

As for your problem, I don't see exactly what you mean in the latest  
version(s) of Opera ( 9 and 9.1). Perhaps you are looking at an old  
version of Opera ? It is always useful to specify versions of the  
browser used.

For older releases of Opera, your problem, if I understand it  
correctly, is easily solved by adding 'padding:0' to the body selector.
