I use a nice text editor called notetab (there is a free light version at http://notetab.com in addition to a low cost pro version) and it has a utility clip that will find every image tag with a missing alt and prompt you for the text to insert so that you can easily insert them. If you have a lot to do, this is a good move as you should always have alt tags. This is probably soon off topic, so if you want more on that, write me off-list probably.
