I think I need some clarification. It is my understanding that a pixel 
is a relative unit of measure (relative to the viewing device) [1].

And IE users /can/ scale fonts set in pixels (granted it is a pain) by 
ignoring the authors specifications:

internet options>
accessibility>
ignore font sizes specified on Web pages>
view>
text-size>
and pick your poison>

Some say thoughtful authors set fonts with percent or em to alleviate IE 
users from going through this drill.
