FWIW, I think it looks better with a border :-)

IE/Mac has some of the same line-height problems as IE/win (all
versions), but it doesn't get the fix.

So, if you _replace_ the IE/Mack hack you have now, with...

/*\*//*/
h1 {height: .8em;}
h1 i {position: relative; top: 1.4em;}
/* mac ie5.2 */

...(courtesy Molly 't.c.') then IE/Mac will handle it to near perfection
- with bottom-border and all.
