I think we'd need more tests to get an idea why some paragraphs show this stacking issue even if the italic phrase is not wrapped, and how the rest of the paragraph is involved. (I guess they patched the IE6 italics bug by manipulating the stacking for the <i>...</i> and forgot to switch back in the following anonymous inline box.)
