CSS-d,

I have a DIV that is floated right, and contains a graphic and a menu.

The web site is here, and the menu is the one on the right hand side,
being carried by a sumo-cherub:
http://nihongode.jp

Depending on the browser width, there is a chance it can overlap with
the main logo graphic.

By default, it seems to go underneath the logo. So, I set the div to
have a z-index of 1000. The div that contains the logo has a z-index of 100.

However, this has not made the div rise to the top. It still gets
obscured by a portion of the logo if it happens to be located in a space
occupied in part by the logo.

Am I missing something fundamental about how Z-index works?

Thank you for any advice.
