I've got a recommendation..... don't waste your time. Have you looked  
at your stats for how many visits are coming from IE5.2.3 (the last  
version of IE for Mac). I'm a governmental institution in a rural  
area (so a wide spectrum of users) and my stats show about  0.04% of  
the traffic comes from IE for Mac (and a bunch of those are from me  
doing testing).

Its not unprofessional to say you can't; but instead talk about  
Return on Investment. You could spend a lot of time working on it  
just to benefit a very very tiny group of people, or you could spend  
your time working on something that would benefit more users.

Personally, I check with for basic functionality, but don't worry  
about design irregularities for any browser that is less than 1% of  
my traffic.
