Generally, behavior is best left to another technology-- but this is one of the few of such CSS image galleries of merit: <http://www.tjkdesign.com/articles/gallery/photo_gallery.asp#null> There are other CSS galleries but most inevitably fail at user friendliness, accessibility, and keyboard functionality. A friend of the list (s) shared a delightful image gallery with me that might meet your need but I am not sure it is ready for release.
