Hello, What I a trying to accomplish is to limit the width of the drop-down box generated by a <select> tag. I.E. if the text in an option is too long and will overflow a specified width then it is cut-off or hidden. Setting the "width" property for the "select" and "option" elements works in the case of Firefox and IE 6+ but not Safari. I can not get the drop-down box to be constrained to a set width (see test code below). This is on Safari 3.0.4, the Microsoft Windows version.
Any ideas? Thanks for your time Cheers! <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd" > <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head> <title> </title> <style type="text/css" media="screen"> select { width: 15em; overflow: hidden; } option { width: 10em; overflow: hidden; } </style> </head> <body> <select id="dts_lives" name="dts_lives"> <option value="0612-- BC:2007-11-29"><author's lifetime></option> <option value="1797-02-25:1867-07-19">Abdy, Maria</option> <option value="1540--:1576--">Abergavenny, Frances Neville, Baroness</option> </select> </body> </html> ______________________________________________________________________ css-discuss [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.css-discuss.org/mailman/listinfo/css-d List wiki/FAQ -- http://css-discuss.incutio.com/ List policies -- http://css-discuss.org/policies.html Supported by evolt.org -- http://www.evolt.org/help_support_evolt/
