http://www.ddiv.com/clients/voa/final_builds_modified_110107/screencaps.htm Simply based on your screen shots alone, I'd say that the images weren't being turned inside out, but were instead positioned differently, and repeating. Since the area they were to display in was so small, you got the repeat in the middle of the image in that browser, and thus saw the end of one repetition and the beginning of the next, which made them look rather odd.
