On a MBP @ 1680 below 628px, or so, there is a solid gray like color. An
"off-the-wall" suggestion:
Try re-setting the body declaration from what you have to:
body{background: #dae2e7 url(http://www.myrvspace.com/images/ms_top.png)
repeat-x;
Note: different background-color, top.png not bottom.png, and only repeat-x.
