IE standalone _and_ multipleIE will *never* work as real IE, although
they can be tweaked to come close enough for basic testing of simple
cases. Depends a lot on windows-version (language-version for instance)
how well, or easy, IE standalone/multipleIE can be made to work.
The latest IE version will always dominate, so the following weaknesses
can be expected in IE standalone versions.
1: conditional comments will be misread - "version-confusion" - can be
tweaked.
2: filters and script workarounds for a particular version, may not work
as intended because of "version-confusion".
3: security (and other) settings for one (the latest complete) version
may interfere with another version - more "version-confusion".
One of the above is probably causing that particular "fix" of mine to
fail. I don't use anything but real IE versions anymore, so can't test.
Those IE standalone versions are not supported by Microsoft, and regular
end-users don't use them, so any failures in them are irrelevant and
therefore ignored at my end.
Since "fixed positioning" doesn't seem to be what you're after anyway,
all the above is of course pretty irrelevant for your case.
