Locally all images will be loaded so fast that there won't be a problem, but IE6 will "time out" on most connections, and the more images IE6 has to handle the more it'll mess up."
I tried to examine the problem with a local copy of one of your pages. But when tested locally, the images are a always scaled correctly. That reminded me of what Georg wrote. Maybe it helps.
