Thanks Mark and Julian for the replies, I tried it out the padding and margin 0 
(added it to the external style sheet) and 
I added in 5px on the padding to the bottom which make the search text next to 
the input go up
 too far in FF2 and doesn't help the problem. what can I do? thank you
