My background is mainly ASP.NET, where I've generally been writing the C#, SQL and VB behind other people's designs. I've recently become more interested in the design side using pure CSS and I'm trying to get a simple version to work.
I've borrowed and hacked a style sheet from BlueRobot. Basically, I'm looking for a nice simple title banner, a menu floating off to the right, and the body of the text underneath, flowing around the menu. My primary interest is getting a template (.dwt) file to contain these elements, so that all subsequently attached pages have the same look and feel. However, I can't seem to get it to work. My various attempts are here: http://www.btinternet.com/~edandmill/Shared/Test.htm This is the pure HTML with no template attached. It looks more or less right, apart from the text not flowing underneath the menu, but being for some reason vertically constrained. http://www.btinternet.com/~edandmill/Shared/default.htm This is the page based on the template below. As you can see, the text flows behind the menu, which is ... ahem ... sub-optimal. http://www.btinternet.com/~edandmill/Shared/blah.dwt The template http://www.btinternet.com/~edandmill/Shared/layout2.css The style sheet I hope I've got all my ducks in order - please let me know if my uploads are insufficient.
