I may have misunderstood your question. I used IE developer toolbar and altered the display property, once on the <a> and once on the <img>. There are windows solutions like this as well (virtual pc is one) but you need to have a box with enough grunt to have multiple operating systems running. There are other options like 'multiple ies' (http://tredosoft.com/Multiple_IE). I sometimes used that when I was on Windows but it's generally accepted that while pretty good, it's occasionally not a 100% accurate reflection of what users will see.
