Hello all,

    I'm going to take this moment to point out that issuing a 
connection invitation to over 8,600 people around the world, asking 
them to join your intimate circle of friends on the social network du 
jour, is not really appropriate, nor does it remotely approach being 
on-topic.
    I admit that the list policies do not explicitly forbid this sort 
of behavior; when I wrote them, it wasn't really an issue.  I may add 
something about this, but I think it really is covered under a 
different policy, stated in various ways: always treat your fellow 
list members with respect.
    Thanks, and I hope this is the last time we see something like 
this.  If nothing else, the new spam filters I'm working on building 
should help in that regard.
