Contrary to how it may appear to you, I am not concentrating on what
does not work. I have already handled the necessary issues for the
website in question.

However, as per my original question, I wanted to run this by a few
folks to see if there was something about this that goes beyond my
limited knowledge. For all I know it is common knowledge that ie7 has
a problem with floats in a relative div. Don't know. That is why I
asked.

If this is a complete oddity that does not reflect any more general
do's or don'ts for css in ie7 than that answers my question.

A "never seen this before, and I doubt it means much of anything" is
much more informative than "sounds like a total and complete waste of
time."

I have found that the more I can train myself to follow "best
practices" the fewer cross browser surprises I need to deal with.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. With suitable translation it
gives me the answer I was looking for.

Regards.
Claude
