Wait; I'm confused. You're arguing against using points for printing webpages, but the crux of your argument is against pixels. Maybe I'm missing something key here, but there is a distinct difference between points (pt) and pixels (px).

/Points/ is a standard unit of measurement for typography. From wikipedia, "In typography <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typography>, a *point* is the smallest unit <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typographic_unit> of measure, being a subdivision of the larger pica <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pica_%28typography%29>. It is commonly abbreviated as *pt."* In other words, pt is meant /specifically /for print, so designing a print css sheet based off of pt seems a perfectly valid and logical response to me.

Anyway, I believe I'm missing the logic here, so could you perhaps clarify what exactly you mean?

I have the temerity to disagree with Zeldman's use of points for print

I just want to point out that on IE browsers, if you're using px, then your printed page size depends on the zoom level in your browser. A nice feature-bug for normal web pages and novice web users; a disaster for technical/application sites and technical users.

Please make your wiki a wiki, or at least open the talk pages (to anonymous people even!)

Anyhow, 2 c

Cheers
