I gave it a try and nothing happens.
I figured there would be an overflow needed, but I can't seem to
find the correct place. I'm still fuzzy about overflow. Will reread
the List Apart article I found.
Suggest you revisit "Jukka K. Korpela's" response.
I simply replaced 4col1 with fourcol1, 4col2 with fourcol2, etc.
And the columns were suddenly behaving more or less as expected.
Once the columns are lined up, you will have a couple of minor
surprises to fix. But at least you will be on your way.
If the code does not validate that should be handled. As in this case
just fixing the validation parts will fix the behavior.
Because of my background programming in other languages (such as perl)
I have a habit of never using a digit as the first char of an id or
class. Thus I had no idea how important that really was in css. Thanks
for the opportunity to see how important this is.

Claude
Wow! I took off the leading digit and it works. I vaguely recall that
happening to me in Flash action scripting once but didn't think it
would carry over to css. I guess it's good programming in general to
not lead with a digit.
Thanks for the help to all. I knew it was something simple that makes
me look like a moron again. :-)
Skulking for cover now.
Thanks,
Michael
