Have you consider using a transform for #navContain p (instead of 
-webkit-writing-mode) ?

Then I suppose you'd have to set a width on that whole block, to stop it from 
dancing around when the use mouses over the various items.

You'd be better off using some scripting, me thinks.

PS - cross posting to various lists is _not_ a good idea.
