In the sub menus you have :hover applied to both the <li> and the <a> -
what colors/background are you expecting?

#header nav ul li ul li:hover {

   1. font-weight: bold;
   2. color: green;


#header nav li a:hover{

   1. background: skyblue;
   2. color: black;
