Suppose I download a 960 framework, I design my site on top. I now want to start building the site and complete it in, I suppose two weeks time.

How do I translate the design from a image template to the development stage ? I've watched many tutorials on this subject but the details that I and many are concerned with are never explained, it can be those details that makes it or breaks it from understanding something.

Ahh, okay -- here's where I misunderstood you.

It may sound trite, but there is no substitute for experience.
It's like having a set of drawings for a house and then watching a video about home construction. You can do it that way, but it might take a bit longer.

You will really benefit by just trying it. Start (relatively) easily with a popular framework/grid and try to build one page of your design -- the simplest component (say the mobile version of your simplest page). Developing mobile first can make it easier, since it's easier to add than it is to remove (this is totally over-simplified, but you get the idea).

Does this help? Or am I still off?
