I'm fairly new to CSS but I have a programming background. I'm building a web site and it seems difficult to entirely avoid using fixed values for widths, padding, margin, etc. So if I use a fixed value I would at least prefer to make the value relative to another value or reference some global value that can be used in multiple places so that I can minimize the number of times I have to hard-code something to a "magic number" such as 52px. That way I have less work if I want to tweak something. How do other people solve this problem?
