I know you've already gone down the book route, but 'CSS: The Missing Manual' (http://www.amazon.co.uk/CSS-Missing-Manual-David-McFarland/dp/ 0596526873) is a great resource if you don't already have it.
I read it start to cover not long ago after a little while of fumbling through and doing things the wrong way. I'm now pretty confident and can bang out most designs pretty easily. If you don't want to spend a load of money and are the kind of person that can patiently read a book and learn, then it's defo worth getting hold of. Since then I've just been using the internet for queries such as on here, or finding answers on other sites.
