I generally check for new messages daily. On weekends it depends on my availability. As it happened, 6/11 was my wife's b-day so I didn't get to the list until the evening.
At this point, you are no longer moderated and messages should go through immediately (or as fast as Google chooses). I realize moderation is frustrating for new members, but it keeps the list almost completely spam-free.
