Updates from Jürgen Spitzmüller improving the behaviour when there are no
notes.
Jürgen Spitzmüller 2019-08-17: just warn if \theendnotes is
used, but no endnotes have been inserted yet.
Jürgen Spitzmüller 2020-01-02: ensure .ent file is cleared.
