Hello Enrico

Some answers to you questions:

  1. No, but it is possible to start your app using and SMS or a Socket connection
  2. yes you can initiate a call and send an SMS. Look at the WMA api and the platformRequest(aURL) call. But you cannot get events from incoming call. You can get events from an incoming SMS. Look at the SMS PUSH stuff.
  3. This I don’t know. I know on some phones like the Nokia Series 60 and Series 90 phones a midlet can be run in the back ground.

Hope this helps

Johan

Hi all you J2ME experts,

I’m trying to determine the capabilities of J2ME applications in general.

  1. Is it possible to autostart a midlet when the user turns on his phone?
  2. Can a midlet receive events for incoming/outgoing calls/SMSes?
    1. Can a midlet initiate a call or send an SMS?
  3. Can a midlet run as a screensaver/wallpaper?

Thanks in advance.
