If you haven't found a venue for Heinz's talk, I could get a venue at UCT, should be easy enough.

Heinz, Ben, et. al. let me know if you think this is a good idea. This week is a bit busy for me, so it will probably need to be next week sometime.

Any comments...?

Gary

That sounds great Heinz! I'd be really interested in attending and I'm sure I could rustle up some others to attend should you decide to present the talk to the CTJUG!

Kind regards,
Antoine Fortuin

Hi Gary,

it would be great to have a new representative of UCT CS. That Irish PhD
student I think was part of initiating SPIN, but he has gone back to Ireland
now.

I might present my talk at the CTJUG as well - depends if there is
sufficient interest? The slides will become available after March, once
I've presented the talk at TheServerSide Java Symposium.

By the way, there is another talk that I will be presenting, called "Java
Specialists in Action". I don't mind presenting both of the talks at CTJUG
in the next few weeks, just not on the same day.
Kind regards from

Heinz

 Ben

I recently got this notification for the SPIN meeting on Wednesday this
week. Unfortunately I was unable to attend, but was very interested in the
topics discussed and am interested in joining your group.

So I was wondering if you had any documentation from the talks on
Wednesday (handouts, slides, etc.) and if there is any cost to joining the
SPIN initiative.

 Thanking you.

   Dear Software Professional,

The Cape Town SPIN (Software Process Improvement Network) is having its
first meeting of the year tomorrow (Wednesday, 18 January) at our new
venue - the CITI Bandwidth Barn at 125 Buitengracht Street, Cape Town. The
year will certainly start on a high note with two expert speakers
presenting. There is even going to be food and refreshments!

Our first speaker will be Dr. Heinz Kabutz, a recognized Java expert who
was recently honored by being awarded the coveted title "Sun Java Champion"
by Sun Microsystems. The topic of his talk is Productive Coder.

Our second speaker will be Nico de Wet. Nico has worked in a number of
academic, research and commercial environments and will share his expertise
on UML 2.0 with us. His talk is entitled Slow Start Modeling in the Java
World - Low Risk Beginnings using UML.

More details on the meeting, including the agenda, abstracts and
biographies, can be found on our website:
