Hi all Here are my thoughts on the past discussions:
1. The ctjug is functional and active thanks mainly to Jeff, Enrico, myself and the community. Though meetings have taken place less frequently than we would like, we are still active on the mailing lists and have an active jobsite. Meetings are a problem area for us that we have recognized, but have had difficulty in resolving. 2. This jug is truly driven by the community and depends on community involvement. It has never been run by any company and is not Sun's lapdog. It moves at the pace the community moves it and requires people to participate to create change, as we see happening at the moment. 3. There is no hard constitution as there has been no need in the past, with your involvement I would like to see that changed and I will create a seperate thread to kick that off. 4. I have no vested interest in the jug, but have an interest in keeping it free and open. I started the jug last century to encourage networking in the community at a time when java was the underdog. I knew few other java developers and fewer companies working with java, the jug created a local support base and we have since created an interesting community and got to know some interesting characters. I'm looking forward to your participation in the process we now embark on, as it wil not happen without your involvement. No matter what your level of java is, your input is important, if there is something you need from the user group, lets build it. Our priorities are a consitution, formalizing the portfolios, electing commitee members to those portfolios and electing a new chairperson. Another issue is numbers, we are currently 300 odd on forum the mailing list and it might be difficult to find the people we need with those numbers. If you know of people who you feel should be involved, get them onto to the mailing list!
