1. - check that the file in question is acutally in the war: open with winzip etc..
2. If its a library (inside a jar) make sure that its acutally in the WEB-INF/ lib directory
3. Does tomcat also work if you call a function that uses the class that is not bing found.. (sometimes Tomcat is very forgiving.. when it comes to these things.) Hope that helps Carl

my web.xml file, but the question begs asking:  why is it
