I've got the Acer Travelmate 8204WLMi... T2500 processor, 2GB RAM that Duo
core does WONDERS for your Java IDE. Personally I dislike HP's my first
preference would be a Dell, but this is my 2nd Acer ( they're better value
for money in my opinion ) and I've been more than happy with both of them.

Cheers,
Renier

Hi Antoine,

Yes, I was planning on upgrading the memory to 2 Gigs, cos our
application is a monster (+/- 10000 class files), windows development.

I was also eyeing this model for R12605 (incl VAT)
RH405EA hp Notebook - NX7400 - Intel(r) Core(r) 2 Duo Processor T5600
1.83GHz 667MHz FSB 2MB L2 cache, 2048MB DDR2-667MHz SO-Dimm Memory
(2x1024), 80GB SATA 5400rpm Hard Drive, 15.4" WXGA (1280x800 resolution)
TFT LCD Display, DVD Writer DVD+/- RW DL - Fixed, Intel Media Graphics
Accelerator 950 UMA 224MB, Intel 802.11a/b/g Wireless LAN, 10/100
Ethernet LAN, Bluetooth, Microsoft Windows XP Professional, 1-1-0
(One-year standard parts and labour warranty)

Not too bad hey!

Enrico

Hi Enrico.

If you're using it for development in a Linux environment you might get
by but I would recommend upping the memory to at least 1.5 Gig if
you're running an IDE, application server and OpenOffice.

If you're developing in windows I would opt for a T2500 processor with
2 Gig of RAM. The speed difference between a T2300 and T2500 is worth
the extra money.

I'm currently developing on an HP nx7400 and the performance on this
machine is great! I am able to run Ubuntu in VMWare for development on
a Windows platform (sued for office applications, file sharing and 3G
card) with no resource glitches whatsoever.

Kind regards,
Antoine
