Hi Ryan

If you are using JBoss 4.0.x then the file concerned is 
naming-service.xml in the deploy directory.
I also occasionally have the same problem, so I've edited this file a 
number of times, with success.
What version of JBoss are you using?
Also if you have clients connecting to a JBoss server then the new port 
must be used in the java.naming.provider.url property.
Our clients connect via Java Webstart via the jnlp file, so this is 
where I have to make the change to the java.naming.provider.url property.
