The Austin Chapter of the Society of Children's Book
Writers and Illustrators presents Falling into
Children's Books on Saturday, October 20, 2001 from
10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The Conference will feature
Patricia MacLachlan (author of Newbery award winner
SARAH PLAIN AND TALL), Keith Graves (illustrator of
FRANK WAS A MONSTER WHO WANTED TO DANCE) and Ruth
Pennabaker (author of DON'T THINK TWICE). Speakers
will educate and inspire you. Network with speakers
and other children's writers and illustrators (or
would be writers and illustrators). Registration is
limited to 75 participants. The conference will be
held at the National Wildflower Center in Austin.
Cost is $65 for non-SCBWI members plus $10 if you want
lunch (you can bring your own) before September 1; $75
plus $10 for lunch after September 1. Contact Anne
Sparks 512-251-6404 for information. Membership in
SCBWI is NOT limited to published authors/illustrators
(or even want to be authors or illustrators; it's open
to anyone interested in children's literature).
