The Alamo Area Library System is sponsoring a children's services workshop
on Monday, December 3rd at the Central Library of San Antonio Public Library
in San Antonio, TX. Dealing with Challenges in Children's Services will
examine children with learning difficulties and home schoolers. Dr. Charles
Karulak, Headmaster of the Winston School in San Antonio, will discuss
learning difficulties. Tim Lambert, Texas Home School Coalition, will
discuss home schooling.
Registration begins at 9 a.m. The workshop begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends 3:00
p.m. 4 hours of CE credit will be issued. There is no cost for this
workshop. Maps to San Antonio Public Library are available.
Workshop objectives are:
Participants will receive:
a broad overview of children with special needs including
learning and behavior difficulties as well as
resources that are available for librarians;
a profile of the home school population;
information regarding the laws that affect home schoolers
and the role the Texas Education Agency plays in
home schooling; and
information regarding different types of curriculum used by
home schoolers.
