The morning workshop given by Constance Malone, motivational speaker and image consultant, surprised an audience of 92 with her lively presentation. Her insights into how we look to others and how the unspoken messages we send can speak volumes was inspiring and thought provoking as well as entertaining. The editor finds herself wearing her pretty scarves and taking her vitamins. The afternoon meeting led by Donald Oliver, Chair of the CTLS Advisory Council, presented the 2004-2005 budget for review by the membership and adoption by the Advisory Council. Pat Tuohy, CTLS coordinator, reported on the current budget and the effects of the Toys R Us and Baker & Taylor settlements. She urged member librarians to consider joining the System task force that is being formed to study the Collection Development allocation formula. The proposed 2003 Plan of Service was also discussed. Bob Gaines briefly discussed the future of the Telecommunications Infrastructure Fund. Member libraries that did not have a representative at the meeting should be receiving their briefing packet in the mail. Correction to January Newsletter In Nancy Gemmel's article, three words were inadvertently left out of the last paragraph in the Using the New ILLWeb segment. The sentence should read, "I encourage all GAC libraries to become familiar with the new access and move one ILL activity, such as custom holdings, to the ILLWeb at a time." The editor regrets any misunderstanding the omission may have caused. Purchasing Deadline Extended Because the start of the purchasing year was pushed back, we are extending the deadline by which libraries must order their materials. The new deadline is May 31. For orders placed after April 30, please specify "no backorders" with your vendor(s). New Ingram Representatives Kristie Knox is the new Customer Support Representative for Texas customers.
