National Video Resources, the National Science Foundation, and the American Library Association are now accepting applications for a new viewing, reading and discussion project for libraries - Research Revolution: The Laboratory and the Shaping of Modern Life. The twentieth century has witnessed many extraordinary events and experiences, but none more significant than the pace of scientific discovery and technological transformation. Together they have fundamentally altered almost every aspect of life as it is lived with new innovations including plastic, polymer fibers such as nylon, new dyes, explosives, pharmaceuticals, and a wealth of other products unknown to the natural world. The Research Revolution project aims to enable us, as citizens, to deal more effectively with the new choices that rapid scientific change creates. The project will help illuminate the organization and goals of scientific-technical work, the critical outcomes of research and development, the material and social byproducts of such work, and the ethical issues that sometimes result. If your library is interested in participating in the Research Revolution project, please visit www.ala.org/publicprograms/research for more information and to download an application and guidelines. Applications must be postmarked by June 1, 2002. --------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Include in body: unsubscribe ctls-l For information on CTLS-L please visit: http://www.ctls.net/document/ctls-l.htm
