The Austin Public Library Summer Reading Program has teamed up with the Austin Ice Bats of the Central Hockey League to promote reading over the summer months. As part of the Ice Bats involvement, they will host free roller hockey clinics on Saturday, July 20. One hour sessions will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the St. John Community Recreation Center, located in Northeast Austin at 7500 Blessing Avenue. The clinic is open to all children ages 6-15. Participants must be registered by a parent or guardian. Registration forms are available at all 21 Austin Public Library locations and on-line. Ice Bats players and coaches will conduct skills and safety demonstrations, and in-line hockey scrimmages. Participants are asked to bring their own in-line skates, stick and helmet, if available. Additional equipment will be available on a limited basis.
