FYI ---------Myra Arredondo, TSLAC TRUST FUND GRANT APPLICATIONS DUE SOON AUSTIN, Texas - The application deadline for this year's Texas Preservation Trust Fund (TPTF) grant program is Wednesday, July 31 at 5 p.m. Approximately $400,000 will be awarded this year in matching grants for preservation projects. Created by the Texas Legislature in 1989, the TPTF is an interest-earning pool of public and private monies. The earned interest and designated gifts are distributed yearly as matching grants to public and private owners of eligible historic properties and archeological sites. TPTF grants pay up to one-half of total project costs to help preserve Texas' cultural resources and are awarded for acquisition, development, planning and education. Eligible projects include archeological sites; commercial buildings; public buildings such as schools, city halls, libraries and museums; and unique historic structures such as bridges, water towers, lighthouses and ships. Grants are also available to cover education costs associated with training about historic resources and historic preservation techniques.
