Good news! Soon it will be easier to find out which TexShare databases carry a particular magazine title. Read on for more information. ________________________________________________ TDNet, Inc., a leading provider of electronic database and journal management solutions for libraries, is creating a Web-based alphabetical list of the thousands of electronic journals and magazines available to Texshare member libraries through the dozens of databases licensed by Texshare. Texas residents who are looking for the full text of a particular title will be able to search or browse the list, find it, and link to it directly, rather than searching through one database after another. TDNet expects to build and launch the service along with TexShare during the month of August. The site will incorporate titles from over thirty-five full text databases from providers such as EBSCO Publishing, GaleGroup, OVID, OCLC, and ProQuest. TDNet will update the URL's, coverage dates, and title lists on a weekly basis. A letter of intent to build this state-wide electronic database searching site and mount it on the TexShare servers has been signed by TDNet and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. The two organizations are drafting a final agreement, which they expect to sign before the end of August. "TDNet opens up access to full-text databases, eliminating the problem of "hidden titles", that is titles available in full text, unbeknownst to the user. We are excited and grateful for the opportunity to building in Texas the first state-wide TDNet site", said David Fritsch, Vice President of Sales for TDNet, Inc. An additional feature, the TDNet Usage Statistics Report Generator, will allow Texshare staff to create uniform, comprehensive reports on-the fly. The reports measure usage by title, database, publisher, and other parameters. "We found the TDNet Usage Statistics Report Generator especially helpful, since it gives us the power to really measure which resources we buy that are the most popular and effective for our users." said Russlene Waukechon, database administrator for Texshare. As part of the agreement, Texshare members who wish to have their own, customized TDNet sites, or who wish to use TDNet's data services to create and maintain catalog records for their electronic documents, will enjoy substantial discounts on all TDNet products and services Russlene Waukechon TexShare Database Coordinator Texas State Library and Archives Commission 512.463.7402 512.936.2306(f) [EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Include in body: unsubscribe ctls-l For information on CTLS-L please visit: http://www.ctls.net/document/ctls-l.htm
