Subject: TexShare Logon Security Reminder If you are using a Customized Gateway to access the TexShare databases please remember: Access to the TexShare Databases through this menu page is intended exclusively for staff and local patrons of your library. Please provide logon and password information ONLY to current card-holders at your library. If you place your logon and password on your webpage or in a newspaper or other publicly accessible venue then individuals who may not be authorized users of the TexShare databases may have access to the information we provide. Our contracts with the database vendors clearly state who are authorized users of the TexShare libraries, making access available to individuals who are not eligible to use these resources could result in a breach of any of our contracts. If you are not using a Customized Gateway to access the TexShare databases you may still have a logon and password that was given to you at some point to access the databases. The above information applies in this situation as well. Please do not publicize the logon and password information via mass media. Instead please distribute the logon information on the back of a bookmark or library brochure. We encourage you to share TexShare logon information with your library patrons just do so in a responsible manner keeping the above guidelines in mind.
