As I'm sure you have heard, there are particularly serious Internet worms
making the rounds right now. The worms not only compromise the security of
infected systems, but they can also cause serious performance issues. You
can get the latest virus and worm information at:

Norton: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/

McAfee: http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp

What do you need to do? Nothing that you shouldn't be doing already.

1) Make sure that your computers have the latest security patches and
service packs for your version of Microsoft Windows. You can check each
computer by opening Microsoft Internet Explorer and visiting
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/. Check for updates by clicking on "Scan
for Updates" or "Product Updates" and Microsoft will provide you with a list
of critical updates and a link to download and install them.

2) Make sure that you apply all available security patches for your
Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. You can check
for updates in the same manner as Windows updates by visiting
http://office.microsoft.com/OfficeUpdate/default.aspx and clicking on "Check
for Updates". Microsoft will provide you with a list of critical updates
and a link to download and install them.

3) Make sure that each of your machines is running an antivirus program and
that the virus definitions are current. Antivirus programs should be set to
update virus definitions automatically. Set your antivirus software to
update every day.

If a machine should become infected, there are removal tools for getting rid
of the worms and viruses. Use the Norton or McAfee links above to find
removal tools.
