Texas Rural Communities, Inc. (TRC) is soliciting applications for innovative projects in rural communities that have been developed and implemented by Community Based Organizations for the benefit of the local community or economy. The applications are for TRC's fourth annual Texas Rural Best Award. TRC will award one $10,000 grant to the chosen applicant as a one-time gift to be used for the selected projects. TRC Executive Director Sandra Tenorio said, "Rural Texas is full of creative thinkers that have found innovative solutions to address real problems in their local areas. We want to find those programs, reward them, and share their innovative thinking with other rural communities." Applicants will be judged on the project's innovation, the significant problem solved by the program and a demonstrated success for at least one year. All applications must be post-marked no later than October 17, 2003. Faxed or e-mailed applications will not be accepted.
