3 Athena users have volunteered as test sites, and I'd like to get at least one Follett site also. Read on if you are interested, and let Bob Gaines know if you want to volunteer for the test. Xan Charbonnet, who works at the Westbank Community Library, has developed web-based reporting programs for Westbank that may be useful to others. Xan has put up a demo page on his server showing a few screenshots of the kind of reports he can generate for other libraries: http://www.biblionix.com/demo Xan describes the three functions he has already set up for the test sites: Report Processing - The librarian generates a text report from the catalog software, then uploads the file to my server via the Web page. A few seconds later, the printable output is displayed on the browser. Database Counting - Whenever a Web database is requested, a URL pointing to my server is used instead of the real address. The access is counted, and the user is forwarded to the database (nearly instantaneously). Links to the databases in the library's bookmarks or on links pages need to be updated. Circulation Graphing - For example, Westbank: each evening after closing, the circulation manager generates a 'Materials Checked Out' report for the day, and uploads it to my server just like the other reports. This was the best way to get the data out of Spectrum; I'm not sure about the other two [Athena and Follett]. I'm pretty sure it'll work something like this for them as well.
