The Small Library Management Training Program is an ongoing, voluntary program that provides management skills to nonMLS library employees of small community (25,000 or less population) libraries in Texas. The program consists of five two-day workshops in five locations around the state offered over a two and one half year period. Each session is tailored to provide essential management skills for library professionals who are responsible for planning, creating and justifying budgets, hiring and supervising staff, ordering and weeding library materials, and developing policies. Collection Development workshops will be held in the following cities: Richmond (Houston area) March 29-30, 2004 Carrollton (DFW area) April 22-23, 2004 Corpus Christi April 26-27, 2004 Lubbock May 10-11, 2004 Amarillo May 13-14, 2004
Workshops are free in and of themselves. Some travel costs may be involved. A $10 donation will also be collected at the door to help the speaker cover costs of refreshments. Financial assistance may be available from the Tocker Foundation - see their web site at http://www.tocker.org.
