Brenham does not have a policy against this. I’m sure people enter contests occasionally, but it has not turned into a problem.

As far as doing personal business, we don’t address that, either, but we do verbally warn people against using credit card or bank account information on public computers, since someone could come behind them and steal that information. That is something we do want to work into our internet use policy.

Subject: conducting business on computers

We are suspicious that a person who has been on the library computers a lot lately is entering contests and perhaps conducting a personal business from the library. Do any of your Internet Acceptable Use Policies prohibit that kind of activity? Currently, ours doesn't.
