        I have approval to share this with everyone. If you, your kids,
grandkids, neighbors, relatives, a kid you are mentoring, etc. qualify,
these are wonderful scholarships for students entering college next Fall who
has financial need. It requires that a teacher or other educator nominate
the student and another community member recommend that student. The
definition of "professional educator" may include a public librarian who
mentors, tutors, or works with a student sufficiently to know the students
academic achievement (I checked with the Gates office). Deadline is January
14.
