There is an explanation in the 2005 reading club manual...basically it is against the law for anyone to play Bingo without a license even if you don't charge and/or don't give prizes. Not in a classroom, not in a library, not in your home if you have more than a few close friends....read about this at http://www.tsl.state.tx.us/ld/projects/trc/2005/manual/2005TRCManual.pdf (the State Library hasn't uploaded the html file yet but go to page 11 of the pdf file. Even if you don't call it BINGO, you could be caught on this if it looks remotely like BINGO. Christine McNew and TLA staff spent a lot of time talking with the Attorney Generals office and legal counsel. The legislature would have to change the law for libraries and schools. Until they do, play another game.
