Subject: [syscon-tx] Urgent! Gates Foundation needs TX libraries for survey

Posted for the Gates Foundation - please fill out the survey if you have not
done so. Thanks!
Dear Texas Public Library Directors:
In November, you received a survey on public libraries and the Internet from
Florida State University's (FSU) Information Use Management and Policy
Institute and co-sponsored by the American Library Association and the Bill
& Melinda Gates Foundation.
We have extended the response deadline to February 1, 2005. Please log on
and complete the online survey as soon as possible,
<http://staging.pnmi.com/LibrarySurvey/>. The survey will take just 15
minutes to fill out, but the data you provide about your library's public
access computing services will be useful to you and other library
professionals across the country for years to come.
Once complete, this study will better enable you to understand and
communicate your library's role in providing access to the Internet and
digital information and the big impact this service has on your community.
The survey data also will give national and state policymakers, library
supporters, practitioners, researchers, government and private funding
organizations and other stakeholders a better understanding of the issues
and needs your library faces in providing Internet-based services and
resources.
This survey is very important-data from past FSU studies have been used in
Congressional testimony, by the U.S. Census Bureau, and even by the U.S.
Supreme Court.
Please be a part of this one-of-a-kind national study by completing the
survey as soon as possible. To read more about the Institute as well as this
and other research projects, visit: www.ii.fsu.edu/
