day up to $5.00 per book. We never go over that. We also let patrons check out
or use the internet if their fines are under $5.00 total. We charge replacement
price plus $5.00 processing for lost or damaged books. If the damage can be
repaired in house, we charge a fine equal to the labor cost of the time spent
by the repair lady. (She estimates for us—we don’t stand behind her
with a stopwatch or anything.) For replacement costs, I usually price the book
